Tainted Peerzada gradually bolstering position in JKPCC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 3: The presence of Public enterprise Minister Peerzada Mohd Sayeed alongside Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad during the public rally in Anantnag on Wednesday has given indication that Peerzada has bolstered position within party and has silenced his detractors in the state congress unit. As the controversies often has chased the said minister but he was on a loser's side after the recent controversy about involving of Peerzada Sayeed's the foster son surfaced in 'copying case' i.e. exam-gate, several Congress leaders rallied against him and sought his ouster from the state cabinet. Flaunting his proximity with the centre party leadership Peerzada survived the initial storm and has maintained a low profile since then. But with the passage of time he exhibiting atypical patience now has been able to matrix his position in the party stronger than before. His presence in the public rally attended by Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is apparently a clear message to the party cadre and junior leaders not to point fingers towards him. At one time Peerzada's continuation in the Omar Abdullah's cabinet had become burden for him and even efforts were made by the NC leadership including Dr Farooq Abdullah to show him the exit door but the seasoned congress leader proved them wrong by retaining the portfolio of Public enterprises minister. Now with changing goal posts and the ongoing tug of war between the two factions of the state Congress becoming more intense the former education minister may once again face litmus test to prove his loyalty towards the tallest leader of the congress to fortify his position more better manner. Political observers also observed that Congress cannot afford to push Peerzada Sayeed on the back seat at a crucial juncture as his ouster would provide the opportunity to the opposition party to spread its tentacles in the valley at the cost of eating votes of the Congress. |
