NC "unhappy" with partner Congress as latter "makes inroads into its voter bastion, Ganderbal" | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 3: NC is said to have conveyed its "unhappiness" to Congress after the latter this week held an impressive public rally in its voter bastion, Ganderbal, the home constituency of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah. The rally, addressed by PCC president Saifudin Soz and two Congress Ministers three days back, was attended by a sizeable number of people despite the inclement weather. It, however, did not go well with NC. Upset over the Congress meetings in its "strongholds", the NC was stated to have expressed its unhappiness. In its displeasure, the NC had a point when a senior party leader said instead of working in NC voter bastions, Congress, which was its coalition partner in the State, ought to work in the Assembly segments held by PDP MLAs. Holding rallies in PDP-held segments would help both NC and Congress to improve their tally in the next Assembly elections, the NC leader said. What irked NC after the Congress's Ganderbal rally was the good gathering. "Several people turned up in the rally even when it was raining," a senior Congress leader said. He said the Ganderbal rally was also an answer to NC leader Mustafa Kamaal's statement that "Congress has no existence in Kashmir." He said the party cadres wanted that the Congress, which was part of Government in the State, should also effectively play the role of opposition. |
