Rs. 4.5 cr earmarked for Jalalabad WSS, Rs.78 lakh for upgradation of link roads: Bhalla | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 4 : Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today said Government has earmarked Rs. 4.5 crore under Jalalabad and Firdosabad water supply scheme for providing safe drinking water facilities to 9000 populace of Jalalabad and Firdosabad areas of Sunjwan town, adding that the 1000 feet 50000 gallon per hour discharge capacity tube well including laying of water supply pipes works are under progress on war-footing and would be completed within time frame. This was stated by the Minister while addressing a large gathering after kick starting modernization work of link road, internal links and surface drains at Jalalabad in Sunjwan, for which Government has approved Rs. 78 lakh. Bhalla said with the commissioning of deep drill tube well, the adequate drinking water supply to 4-kilometer long distance areas which falls under Jalalabad, Firdosabad and its adjoining areas would be solved to large extent. He said due to water level is very low in the areas, the Government has decided to dig tube at Nakra village near Railway Station, adding that the water supply to the areas be made available through 50,000 gallon storage capacity Over Head Tank at Jalalabad. He said since the new constructed tube well could not be made functional, the drinking water supple be supplied through water tankers by the PHE department. Minister said Government is committed to provide all basic amenities to the inhabitants of remote areas of the State which included adequate drinking water, irrigation, electricity, road connectivity, healthcare, education besides better lanes and drains. He said there is no constraint of funds in providing adequate drinking water and irrigation facilities to remote areas of the State. Bhalla said Government has also earmarked Rs. 2 crore for providing adequate drinking water facilities in the Bermeeni and Salarian villages. He said instructions were issued to PHE department to immediately start the digging work for laying of water supply pipes in both the remote villages. He informed that with the commissioning of reservoirs, the drinking water scarcity in far-off villages could be solved to a large extent. The Minister informed the gathering that Government has earmarked Rs. 2.37 crore for construction of Bermeeni-Rati Salarian villages, adding the projects are going on war-footing. He said the 4-kilometer road would be dedicated to the people shortly after completing mecademisation work. He said Government has approved Rs. one crore for construction of one-kilometer long Doogian-Sunjwan road. Responding to the locals demand, the Minister asked the R&B authorities to prepare a detailed project report for construction of Chatta-Sandh and Chatta-Talab Truta roads and submit the same for funding so that the construction work of the roads would be started after completing tendering formalities. Regarding upgradation of Government Middle School, Bermeeni, he said a proposal in this regard is under active consideration in School Education Ministry, after receiving consent, the school would be upgraded upto high school. At Chatha Mill, Rani Talab and Dashmash Nagar in Gangyal, Bhalla kick started various development projects which included mecadem isation of link roads, nallah embankments, lanes and drains besides toilet complex, for which Government has earmarked Rs.24 lakh. |
