| Beaten by Cop, man lands into hospital in Jammu | | | Early Times report
Jammu, May 4 : A middle-aged man was hospitalised today after he was 'mercilessly' beaten by a police sub-inspector in Gharkal area of tehsil Akhnoor on city outskirts. "
A man identified as Ram Lal, son of Girdhari Lal was this afternoon admitted in the Sub-District Hospital Akhnoor after he was thrashed by the in-charge Police Post Gharkal sub-inspector Jagdish Singh," sources here told .
They said the victim was called to the police station after his brother Sham Lal lodged a complaint with the police over water dispute in the fields. "The victim fell unconscious in the police post and was immediately shifted to the sub-district hospital Akhnoor from where he was referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital," they added.
Meanwhile the mother of the victim Kaki Devi submitted an application to the Munsiff Court demanding registration of a case against the cop. "A case has been registered and investigations have been initiated into the matter," Mahesh Sharma-Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station Akhnoor told . |
