Congress to keep its hands off JK till July | | | early times report Jammu, May 4: The Congress, it seems, is likely to keep its hands off Kashmir for the time being. No changes are expected in the present dispensation. Former Chief Minister and Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad assured full term for Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in office yesterday. The Congress, political circles believe needs support of the National Conference which has three members in Lok Sabha and two in the Rajya Sabha. In addition, it has 28 members in the Legislative Assembly. And with the Presidential elections round the corner, Congress simply cannot afford to annoy the National Conference. Azad, who supported the idea of giving Omar a full term is always consulted by the party high command on all matters related to Jammu Kashmir. This, however, has not lessened any support for Saif-ud-Din Soz who continue to head the JKPCC. The Congress, high command, may go for a review of NC-Congress relationship after the Presidential elections in August. The party high command, party sources believe, is likely to take up the matter of Cabinet expansion with Omar after July.
