Jammu, May 4: Notwithstanding the claims at the high command level of both the parties in coalition in J&K Government that the allies enjoy smooth ties, a war of words has again erupted , this time involving MPs of NC and Congress , that too over an issue as serious as autonomy as solution for J&K problem.
A day after Congress Member Parliament in Lok Sabha from Jammu and Kashmir-Lal Singh- said there should be no autonomy or self rule for the state, the ruling National Conference today minced no words to lambast him. While addressing Party workers at the party headquarters, senior NC leader and Member Parliament Sharief-ud-Din Shariq said his party's document of autonomy is considered as the only realistic document which will address the aspiration of the people. He said: "People talking against autonomy are challenging the article 370."
Shariq said even the Centre is aware that autonomy has become imperative and its restoration is the only way. "The autonomy report had been acknowledged by the former president of Pakistan Gen Parvaiz Musharaf and other Pakistani leaders during the visit of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to Pakistan. While autonomy report has been endorsed worldwide, there is no reason for New Delhi to delay its restoration," he said. The Member Parliament said that conspiracies are being hatched to weaken the NC at the grass root level. "The enemies of nc are aware about the fact that it is the only party that protects the political rights of the people. The people must remain cautious and at the same time ensure that party’s is strengthen at grassroots level," he said.
Shariq said "so called leaders are being created in every nook and corner of the State to divide the people on political and religious lines". "National Conference founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah faced countless sacrifices for the identity and welfare of the people of entire State and such leaders are being created to weaken its mission," he said.
Launching a scathing attack on PDP, the Member Parliament said PDP is creation of agencies to erode the sovereignty and identity of the state. He said PDP patron had worked in various capacities at New Delhi and he played an important role in eroding the State Constitution. Speaking on the occasion, Mubarak Gul assured the party workers that all their problems highlighted in the function will be communicated to Chief Minister for its early redressal. He said misinformation campaign has started against the coalition government , but it can only be defeated with the support of the people.
