After striking in 60 houses, Mr Natwar Lal finally cools his heels in Police lock-up

Jammu, May 4: In a successful attempt, Jammu Police has caught a "smart" conman involved in at least 60 cases of housebreak worth lakhs, which occurred in different parts of the city in past couple of months.
Police is tightlipped over the issue and is reluctant to give details of the accused, as also the interrogation of the accused is on at Police Post, Sarwal under the jurisdiction of police station Bakshi Nagar. Police also wants to make recovery of the stolen items before formally arresting the accused under various sections of the law.
Pertinent to mention here that "all the incidents of thefts/burglaries occurred in those houses, where the landlords never bothered to submit the details of the tenant to the area police.
"The thief is unlike other thieves as his modus operandi while attempting burglaries is altogether different. He used to take a room on rent in a house before striking in the same house," shared highly placed sources in police department.
"In usual attempts, the robbers strike in late night hours when the owners of the house are in fast sleep or in day time, knowingly, when no one is in the house. But this thief in his own style as he first recee the locality and then will select a house to attempt robbery. After finalizing his target, he will meet the local shopkeepers or senior citizens of the area and will inquire about some rented accommodation in the area," reliable sources revealed to Early Times further adding that "the said thief used to enact in such a manner as if he is really in dire need of some rented accommodation. The locals used to guide him to the house where there was space for rented accommodation. After finalizing the terms and condition, the thief used to pay advance of one or two months to buy goodwill of the landlords."
Sources in Police Department further shared that "he never moved outside the house to avoid police' hawkeye. The day he used to get chance for some hours, he quickly decamped with costly items including jewelry, cash and also the household items like utensils worth thousands."
"Till that, the accused had managed to strike in at least 60 houses in different localities," disclosed police sources.
Following incidents of theft, people used to report the matter with the concerned police stations/police posts.
