SKUAST- holds extension council meeting | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 5: Fifth extension council meeting of SKUAST-Jammu was held at Chatha under the chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor, Shaleen Kabra who emphasized the need of prioritizing the key issues of skill development; need based research and transfer of technology from Lab to land. Vice Chancellor in his address to the gathering of scientists, officers of the line departments and progressive farmers impressed upon the scientists to prepare a vision document for propelling the interdisciplinary need based research. He stressed upon the University and the line departments to collectively frame a training calendar, where focus should be on creating awareness among the farmers about the latest technologies, training of trainers and involvement of Panchayats to achieve four percent growth rate in agriculture. Dr A K Mehta, Asst Director General (Retd) ICAR and Dr S L Tickoo, Director Animal Husbandry (Retd) were expert invitees to the Council for reviewing the progress of ongoing extension programmes and project. Meanwhile Dr K S Risam, Director Extension gave a power point presentation of the extension activities of the University. Directors of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Floriculture, Sericulture, Sheep Husbandry, Joint Director Fisheries and Dy. Director Rural Development also participated in the deliberations with the Directors, Deans, Head of Divisions, Programme Coordinators of KVKs and senior faculty members of both the faculties of the University to formulate the action plan for extension activities in the current year. |
