Jammu ,May 5: Samooh Theatre performed a Hindi play ‘Maa Mujhe Tagore Bana Do’ here today.
The play is a deep philosophical journey of a child whose cravings for writing poetry and to become Rabinder Nath Tagore is broken when his poor father working in a brick kiln meets with an accident and turns bed ridden.
The boy who used to go to school and recite poetry to everybody’s acknowledge ment has to leave the school and take place of his father's work to earn the livelihood. In the process, his poetry too starts vanishing as there is no taker for his work that slowly and steadily vanishes and he too loses his art and life while working of the brick kiln.
The story idea of the play is just a reflection to the society that there are many Rabinder Nath Tagores and others in the society who could not make up to their destinations due to manifold reasons that destiny and life plays with them.
Renowned scholar of the state and social activist Prof. Ved Ghai was the chief guest on the occasion. Prof Ghai in her address congratulated the group for organizing such sterling and scintillating Performance for the under privilege children of the slum area.
She further said that drama and theatre play a vital role in order to imbibe and inculcate values among the children and also develop the personality and refine the sensitivities which is the ultimate aim of the children.
The play was acted by Lucky Gupta a noted theatre actor and directed by Ravinder Sharma.
Dr. Sudhir Mahajan. Director Samooh presented vote of thanks on the occasion.
