NSF urges Govt to fix fee structures in private schools

Jammu ,May 5: National Secular Forum (NSF) criticized the government's role in keeping the control over the hefty amount being charged by the Private Schools operating in the state, here today.
Addressing the media person, NSF state president Dr Vikas Sharma said that where the admissions for the new session have been almost completed, these private schools have started charging heavy amount from the parents for the admission of their wards.
Sharma said that the students were being forced by the school administration to purchase their books, uniforms etc. from the school itself and not from any other place. He also said that these schools have become the money making centers. He said that the poor parents who hardly meet there both ends meet and want to admit their children in private schools for quality education have to see the tough time as they have to deposit heavy amount for the admission of their wards. He also said that where hundreds of private schools are operating in Jammu anfd Kashmir, but so far no fee structure has been laid by the government bodies for the admission process. He said that government should frame statues in the fee structures for the admission process in the private schools and also keep an eye on the working of these schools. Sharma further said that Director for School Education has also taken this for granted and no such step has been taken to have control over the hefty amount being charged by the private schools operating in state. He lashed out at the Education Department for not taking any action against the government teachers who openly give private tuitions and have opened big tutorials.
"They have made education a business and are minting money from the parents in the name of provide special tuitions. This should stop as the sufferers are poor children who do not have money", he said. Among others who were present on the occasion included, Shafqat Malik, Sukdev Singh,Narinder Singh and Sunil Kumar beside others.
