| Traffic police launch drive against tinted glasses | | | SUMIT SHARMA
Jammu, May 5: The traffic police faced stiff resistance from people driving cars with tinted glasses. The traffic police intensified its drive against traffic violators following court's direction to adhere with the Supreme Court ruling against tinted car glasses. Police personnel too got confused when some of the car owners asked them to show the clause of booking people for tinted glasses.
SSP Traffic Manmohan Singh said, "In today's 2 hours special drive against traffic violation hundreds of violators were booked and fined simultaneously. He further said that in a drive that was launched in between 5 to 7pm hundreds of vehicles were booked besides visible traffic violations including crash helmet, using of mobile phone while driving.
He said the drive against tinted glasses and black films would continue throughout the city till the vehicles using tinted glasses disappeared from the roads." The officer said a bus carrying vehicle to Srinagar was seized. The bus had permit to ply in Jammu city only, he said.
Besides, traffic police, the district police also booked traffic violators. In Gandhi Nagar area around 30 vehicles were booked today, SP South Rajeshwar Singh told. SP City Jatinder Singh Johar when contacted said that city police also booked violators, though he had no exact figure.
Sources said most of the persons using tinted glasses and black films belonged to media and the police.
