| SAD organizes Gurmat Smagam in memory of late Jagdev Singh | | | JAMMU | JAN 28 The newly formed body of all Jammu and Kashmir State Akali Dal (SAD) organized a function/ Gurmat Smagam at Gurdawara Kaligidhar Rehari here today in memory of SAD President late Jagdev Singh, who passed away on January 7 last. On this occasion, Bhog of Akhand Path and Shabad Kirtan was held and rich tributes were paid to the departed soul. Recalling the services of Jagdev Singh, Chairman GPB and sitting MLC Tarlochan Singh Wazir described him as selfless leader who worked relentlessly for the upliftment of down trodden people of the society irrespective of caste, creed and colour. He impressed the need for unity in the society and advised the newly formed SAD to promote spiritual, moral, ethical and secular values preached by the great Gurus of Sikh Panth. Janak Singh Provincial President from Kashmir promised full support to the newly elected body and assured to work relentlessly for strengthening the body in the valley. Thanking the participants, the newly elected SAD President Gajan Singh said that the Sikh community has always been on the forefront in sacrificing their lives for the integrity and unity of the country. He urged upon the government to consider the long pending demands of the community, especially the formation of a minority board and admission to the community students in professional colleges, apart from relaxation in government jobs especially in the belt forces.
