Two LeT militants gunned down | | | early times report Pattan, May 5 : Police today claimed to have killed 2 local militants of Lashkar e Toiba at Patten in north Kashmir. "Two militants of LeT outfit have been killed by Baramulla Police and 29 RR in a joint operation at Nillah, Pattan today." Police in a statement said, adding that the operation was carried out on a specific tip off. "Acting on specific information about the presence of armed militants in village Nillah Baramulla falling under the jurisdiction of Police station Pattan, Police, Army personnel of 29 RR Unit, launched a joint operation and laid a cordon the area last night. During the process, militants opened fire on the advance party early in the morning, triggering an encounter," added Police spokesman. Meanwhile two LeT militants killed in the encounter were identified as Nisar Ahamd Mir son of Ab. Satar of Nillah, and Mohammad Ibrahim Janwari son of Gh. Mohammad of Sidiq Colony Sopore. Meanwhile Ibrahim is believed to had been active for last more than a decade. Sources said that 2 AK-47 rifles along with 6 loaded magazines were recovered from the scene. They also added that the residential house of Gh. Hassan Shah, in which the militants believed to had been holed up was also dashed to ground. |
