Bhalla inaugurates lanes, drains; calls for judicious use of drinking water

Jammu, May 5 : Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today inaugurated lanes and drains at Rampura and Ashok Nagar, constructed at an estimated cost of Rs17 lakh. Addressing a large gathering, Minister said Government has prepared a plan of Rs. 2.5 crore for construction of tube well on proposed site at Vijay Park in Rampura, adding that after commissioning the tube well, the drinking water supply in the area would be improved to a large extent.
He called upon the inhabitants of Ashok Nagar, Rampura and Nai Basti not waste drinking water unnecessarily and to use it judiciously.
The Minister appealed the people not to dump debris in the lanes, drains besides open spaces, adding that such practices are unhygienic and turn into nuisance for the visitors. He asked the JMC to prepare estimates for modernization of dilapidated condition left out lanes and drains and submit the same for funding so that the construction work of the lanes and drains could be started for the benefit of general masses. He said Government is making all out efforts to revive overall profile of every corner of the State by providing latest technique infrastructure. Listing the measures taken by the Government, he said Government has sanctioned Rs. 45 lakh for covering the 200 meter long nallah at Rampura so that the covering slab would be developed as Recreation Park with modern attractions including illumination, seating and drinking water. Bhalla informed that Government has earmarked Rs. 4.70 crore for construction of parking slot near cremation ground Shastri Nagar which will decongest traffic congestion on Shastri Nagar-Sanjay Nagar area.
To improve the power scenario in Shastri Nagar, Sanjay Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Ram pura, Ashok Nagar and some parts of Nai Basti, the Minister said the work on 10 MVA 33/11 KV Receiving Station at Shastri Nagar is under progress on war footing, the project costing Rs 3.26 crore would be completed by August this year. At K C Colony, Ajeet Nagar, Trikuta Nagar and Hargobind Pura, Bhalla launched construction work of lanes and drains and toilet complex, for which Government has earmarked Rs 16 lakh. Minister reiterated that the massive development activities in various sector like R&B, PHE, health and education, etc has been registered in the state because of tireless efforts of the Government. He said that the state Government was committed to provide all basic amenities to the people of the state at their door steps.
