Develop Jammu as model destination to boost tourism: CCI | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 5 : Newly elected body of Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries today asked the Government to develop Jammu as a model destination to boost the tourism. ''Government should initiate steps to develop Jammu as model destination for tourism by developing Mansar and Surinsar lakes, Gandola Project from Mubarak Mandi on River Tawi, development of Mubarak Mandi Complex and promotion of Suchetgarh Border on the pattern of Wagha Border to boost the tourism industry,'' Y V Sharma CCI president told reporters here. Flanked by the members of the CCI, the president said, ''Government must ensure all round development of Jammu province by providing ultra-modern infrastructure to attract tourists visiting the state from across the for maximum benefits, concessions and incentives for traders.'' The Chamber head further alleged that the work of fresh water lake on River Tawi is also moving at snail's pace adding, ''the authorities should take the project on priority as lake has great potential of generating revenue for the state''. He however, also welcomed the steps of the government to complete the Convention Centre at Jammu having utmost importance. The Chamber members also demanded implementation of agreement of Amarnath Land Row settled between the Government and the members of Shri Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti regarding the compensation to the business community. Sharma further highlighted the civic issues like traffic congestion in both capital cites, remodeling of general bus stand, hike in water charges, electricity supply and improvement of roads. |
