SSP Jammu chastise SHOs using political influence to seek choice postings…..? | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 5: Known for his straight - forwardness, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Jammu Parbhat Singh is learnt to have reprimanded certain Inspectors-at present posted as Station House Officers (SHOs) at various police stations-who attempted political influence to seek postings of their respective choice. The revelation came to light after the recent transfers and postings of atleast nine SHOs and some in-charge Police Posts. While none of the senior police officer posted in district police circle Jammu was coming on record to confirm the "scolding" by SSP, Jammu Parbhat Singh, reliable sources in the Police Department disclosed to Early Times that "observing recommendations in favour of certain Inspectors for their postings at desired police stations, the district police chief opted to go by his own decision." "SSP, Jammu, Parbhat Singh sent one of the SHOs-who used his political influence-to District Police Line (DPL) instead of adjusting him as SHO at a police station falling under the rural wing of Jammu police," shared reliable sources further adding that "the senior police officer further did not adjust a senior Inspector at present at DPL, Jammu, as SHO in any of the police station as the Inspector did not adhere the directions of his immediate senior to supervise the escort of under-trials from district Jail to District Court premises and vice-versa." Highly placed sources further revealed that "soon after effecting the transfers of SHOs/in-charge Police Posts, SSP, Jammu chaired the meeting of all SHOs and passed directions to his subordinate staff to ensure law and order besides strictly dealing with crime related incidents in their respective jurisdictions." He is also learnt to have named those Inspector rank officers who tried to use political influence for their adjustments as SHOs. "How can one expect better policing when senior Cops are not given free hand to decide over the adjustments of his subordinate staff. He (SSP, Jammu) has done the right thing as if any wrong takes place it will be only he, who will answerable and not the political bigwigs. Why Inspectors want to serve the police stations of their choice? Can they explain? No, they can't, for obvious reasons," shared a senior police officer posted here in the district, while pleading anonymity.
