Inflated price marking | WG suggests stringent law to check menace | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 7 : The Working Group (WG) constituted by the Government to suggest ways and means to check the practice of marking inflated price on various commodities by the traders held its 3rd meeting under the chairmanship of Member Legislative Council, Ravinder Sharma. Consequent upon the deliberations held in earlier meetings, the issue was discussed at length. It was unanimously decided by the official/non official members of the working group to go for a new law to control the menace of printing of inflated MRP on various products, to prevent the unsuspecting consumer from exploitation by unscrupulous traders. The Chairman desired that before submission of the recommendations to the government, views of the stakeholders must be obtained for further supplementation. The meeting, besides Engineer Vikram Gour, D. R. Danish, President, CPO, Jammu and Advocate D. K. Khajuria, was also attended by the Director, CAPD, Jammu, Joint Controller, Legal Metrology, Jammu, Joint Director, CAPD, Jammu, Dy Director, CA& PD, Kashmir, Asstt Controller, Food and Drug Control Organization, Jammu, Asstt. Director (EC) CAPD, Jammu. The Committee accordingly invited the views/suggestions from the consumers and the persons likely to be affected by the proposal. |
