Macchedi locals bemoan for basic facilities | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Kathua, May 7: Inhabitants at Macchedi a remote village in Billawer that the village sans not only moderns facilities but also the basic facilities that are needed for the survival for the humans in normal course "You just forget modern infrastructure here, the government has failed to provide us with basic infrastructure as villagers in many areas still are traversing on foot as the road connectivity is worst here," pin pointed Muhammad Saleem a local resident. Newly elected Sarpanch Khushi Ram rued that Macchedi despite have bountiful of natural beauty is facing sheer neglect since long. "Macchedi is located 130 kilometer from the Kathua and 110 kilometer from the National Highway at Dayalachack towards north, but the road connectivity is poor forcing people and visitors to shy away from the beautiful location, he added. Narrating the woes he further said, "besides poor road connectivity the area also is a victim of sheer neglect of official care and sans proper and effective medical centre." "Tall claims of administration and government falls to ground when one witnesses a Govt Higher Secondary School is functioning under the shades of trees in open, he added. He further lamented that as far as the climate is concerned this area has no difference from Kashmir it has all the natural beauty or wealth to catch the eyes of tourists but the state government has failed to explore the same. The tourists visiting the small village situated near religious shrine Sukrala Mata got impressed with the beauty of the area and expressed that this place is so beautiful that if proper infrastructure is provided it could be at par with Kashmir. A NRI Mahi Sandhu said that I have travelled all-round the India as well as world to visit hill stations but find that the place like Macchedi is not less than Switzerland.
