Sweat wet days haunting Jammuites as 'Power curtailments, Jammu leaders unfazed
Post Darbar Move Scenario

Jammu, May 7: As the centre of power i.e. the Durbar moved from winter capital to Srinagar following the traditional centuries old routine, both the power curtailment and irregular water supply have started to haunt Jammuites. While people are worried about the hot days ahead, the Jammu based leaders remained unfazed over the 'power cuts' as they remain under 'privileged section.'
Many localities in walled city and the satellite colonies are facing irregular power curtailment of putting them to recall the horrid experiences of hot summer days which seem with the opening of unscheduled power curtailments after Darbar Move.
Irony of the matter which majority of Jammuites regret is that the Jammu based leaders be it from BJP or from Congress have utterly failed to raise the issue despite Jammu generates more revenue whether it is water or power departments revenue collection.
"An unannounced daily one and half hours power cut in the morning and of same duration in the evening is being enforced in the metered areas on daily basis has forced us to just feel the odd days ahead in near future," said Amit Sharma of Upper Bazaar in old city of Jammu.
He further lamented, "This is on the very first day of the opening of Darbar in valley and just imagine what will happen in the coming summer days." He thanking the God in Heaven saying it is pleasant these days as God is merciful up to now this year but just imagine what will happen in the coming days in June and July. He alleged that the power curtailments only are forced in areas where no VIP or VVIP resides while the areas where some VIPs or VVIPs houses are nestled see no such power or water curtailments. "These areas often fed with special power lines and even the water supply so that the so called privileged persons of civil society face no problems, he bemoaned and further added the heads of Power and PHE Deptt to make their job secure often have instructed their staff not to affect these special areas.
Pertinent to mention here that Jammu is getting 600 MW of power available while Kashmir is being supplied with 900 MW Power, while in summer demand of power is more in Jammu as compared to Kashmir but Jammuites are being penalized with power cuts for giving more revenue.
Jagdish Raj from Gandhinagar Aquaf Market Area alleged that frequent power cuts are being imposed in the area round the year and now after Darbar Move, the situation always got worsened as duration of these cuts have gone up.
"No one knows when the light will be available and when it will be off. Maximum curtailment is imposed in the area is during office hours and majority of offices had their huge generators (some have noiseless but majority of them still had the conventional Gen Sets) and when these Gen-Sets got started the area witnesses huge noise pollution and waste of precious fuel, he added.
