Are Azad loyalist Ministers "earning" sheer critcism within own camp.…? | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 7: Notwithstanding the directions given by their political mentor to reach out to the masses and party cadre to strengthen the party base in Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress Ministers belonging to Ghulam Nabi Azad camp continue to keep themselves confined in their respective Assembly Constituencies. Congress heavy-weights (Azad loyalists) holding important portfolios in NC-Congress coalition Government are least bothered to take along the senior party leaders including MLAs thereby inviting sheer crticism within their own camp. Pertinent to mention here that during his visit here in Jammu in last month, Ghulam Nabi Azad had asked his loyalists to focus on entire Jammu and Kashmir instead of remaining busy in their own respective Constituencies. Sources in Azad lobby revealed that "Certain Congress Ministers including the top slots are busy in their own Constituencies instead of working for strengthening the party base in other Constituencies, which the party lost in 2008 Assembly polls by a less margin of votes. This has led to an uproar within Azad camp. Party leaders either in groups or individually approaching Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad at New Delhi and complaining against the party Ministers." "Yesterday, one of our senior Minister took along a battery of senior Government functionaries including Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, DIG, Jammu-Kathua range and other senior Revenue officials to his home Constituency to ensure the demands and problems of the people of his Constituency are addressed at their door steps," pointed a senior Congress leader having affiliation with Azad camp. While speaking to Early Times on the condition of anonymity, he further went ahead and said that "whenever we approach him (senior Congress Minister), he simply give us a lame excuse that officials are busy and we will have to wait. What reply we give to the people of our Constituency. They publicly ask us that when Congress is ruling the State then why the genuine works of their areas are being delayed. What is the fun of making such leaders as Ministers when they don't pay any heed to party workers and supporters." "How can the party high command expect from us of bright results in the forthcoming elections to local bodies when we are not being supported by our own Ministers. Look at the working of alliance partner National Conference. Though late, but, they have started making into the masses and projecting their local leadership," pointed out another Azad loyalist. Sources in Azad camp further shared that they have met Ghulam Nabi Azad and conveyed their dissatisfaction over the working of certain party Ministers and haved asked him to intervene or drop them from Ministerial berths. |
