JPPF condemns verification of pensioners | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 8: Jammu Province People Forum (JPPF) has expressed strong resentment against the dictatorial attitude of State Government towards its pensioners. The members criticized the draconian government order slapped on pensioners compelling them to get their pension verified by the Treasury offices personally to draw their future pension. The said order has landed lakhs of elderly pensioners in an awkward situation. They said exercise of verification of pension involves obtaining of pension books from the bank, presenting the same personally before the Treasury office and again depositing the same with the bank duly verified. The elderly pensioners have to stand in queue before the bank authorities for hours together and then repeat the same before the Treasury office and deposit the verified pension books with the bank authorities for withdrawl of pensions. The pensioners mostly are elderly too weak to with stand the arduous exercise of standing in queues and waiting for hours which in itself is punishment and harassment to the innocent helpless senior citizens for no fault of theirs. President JPPF Pavitter Singh while addressing the meeting warned the State Government of dire consequences if the draconian government order is not withdrawn immediately as the pensioner community has vowed to fight tooth and nail against the implementation of said order.Inderjeet Khajuria a senior leader of JPPF, speaking on the occasion blamed the government for its own failure to check fraudulent pension drawls for which the axe has fallen on the innocent law abiding pensioners creating chaos and harassment in the pensioners community who are already old enough with ailments, confined to bed mostly dependant on medical assistance. |
