Early Times Report
KISHTWAR, May 8: Buddhist spiritual leader Dalia Lama donated Rs 79 lakh to Himalayan Buddhist Cultural Society Kishtwar for construction of Buddhist Hostel at Gulabgarh, Paddar. President Himalayan Buddhist Cultural Society Jigmit Narboo while confirming the donation given by Dalai Lama to the society for construction of School Hostel at Gulabgarh hails the role of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and MLA Kishtwar Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo for playing an important role in bringing Dalai Lama to Paddar valley of Kishtwar District.Jigmit Narboo along with General Secretary of the society Tenzen Dorge and prominent citizens of Paddar Tehsil today visited the house of MLA Kishtwar and conveyed their thanks to him for advocating the long pending demand of the Buddhist Community before Dalai Lama during his June 5, 2010 visit to Paddar. Narboo said that without MLA's support, the visit of Dalai Lama to Paddar was not possible. He said that it was due to the efforts of MLA Kishtwar that His holiness Dalai Lama promised the said money which they finally received a day before. He said that since most of the adjoining areas of Paddar are unconnected by means of roads, the construction of the hostel thus becomes the necessity, but due to lack of financial assistance, the association fails to construct the same. He said that after the promise made by Dalai Lama during his Padder visit, the association finally looks forward towards construction of school hostel. He said that after construction of the hostel, the association will be in a position to provide accommodation to most of the students studying in the Buddhist school.
He said presently 198 students from 1st to 8th standard from different parts of the Paddar are getting education in the school which was established with the aim to provide the religious and social education to the local Buddhist children.
