Doctors, paramedical staff assaulted by people at Kishtwar | | | Asif Iqbal Naik
Kishtwar, May 8: Doctors and paramedical staff of district hospital, Kishtwar, were today assaulted by the attendants of a patient. The attendants were allegedly accompanied by one Azad Hussain, son of Aziz Din of Umar Mohallah, Kishtwar. They vandalized the hospital property including a cabin and a BP apparatus. According to medical superintendent, district hospital, Kishtwar, Dr Ghulam Mohammad Naqib, a patient admitted in the emergency ward was attended by a lady doctor and three paramedical staff members. He said that after examining the patient, the lady doctor called a physician specialist. In the meantime, those accompanying him turned violent and started assaulting the hospital staff including Juzair Ahmed, Javed Iqbal and Rameez Ahanger. The assaulters also vandalized the hospital property. He said that after the report of incident, he along with chief medical officer, Kishtwar, rushed to the hospital and lodged a written complaint with police station, Kishtwar. As per the complaint filed by the medical superintendent, two of the accused were identified as Imran Hussain, son of Mohammad Ayoub, and Abdul Latief (llder brother of the patient). SSP, Kishtwar, Bhim Sen Tuti said that after receiving the information about the incident, police rushed to the hospital. He assured that police would initiate action against the culprits.It is worthwhile to mention here that Kishtwar district hospital is presently facing the acute shortage of doctors and paramedical staff. There is only one physician, one gynecologist, one pediatrician and one surgeon. |
