Land illegally transferred in name of non-existing refugee at Sungwali | | | Early Times Report jammu, May10: A piece of 10.8 kanals of custodian land at Sungwali in Ghagwal block of Samba is alleged to have been transferred "unauthorisedly" in the name of a non-exisiting refugee of 1947. An RTI activist, who had filed an application with the office of Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Samba, under RTI for information in this regard, said the custodian land at Sungwali, which falls under khasra No 103, was originally shown to have been allotted in the name of Shesh Dass of Gadi Garh, who had migrated to Jammu during the 1947 partition. Quoting investigation carried out by the concerned agencies, he said Shesh Dass "was a non-existing refugee". Quite surprisingly, the land was later transferred in the name of Durga Dass, son of Sukhram of Sungwali. The "intiqal" of the land was alleged to have been done in the name of Durga's son Rajinder Khajuria, the RTI activist said. Estimated cost of the land, about 100 yards away from Jatwal police station, was put at over Rs 2 cr. Not only this, the land mafia, in connivance with Revenue authorities and other concerned agencies, had also allegedly encroached upon and sold about 163 acres of custodian land at Parjani (Kotli panchayat) near Jatwal khud. The RTI activist urged upon the Government to constitute a special investigation team (SIT) for a detailed probe into the alleged incidents of land grabbing in Samba district. Deputy Commissioner, Samba, could not be contacted despite repeated attempts. |
