| Army orders inquiry into officers-jawans scuffle in Ladakh | | |

NEW DELHI, May 11: The Army today ordered a Court of Inquiry into a scuffle that broke out between officers and jawans in Ladakh following alleged molestation involving an orderly and the reported capturing of the armoury by the agitated soldiers.
"The situation is under control and a Court of Inquiry has been ordered into the incident," Army Spokesperson Colonel Jagdeep Dahiya said here.
The inquiry order came after the Defence Ministry sought a report from the Army on the incident that took place last night. "A minor scuffle took place between the officers and the troops of a unit on the night of 10-11 May in Ladakh", he said, adding "a few minor injuries were suffered by the personnel." The incident took place at Nyoma- 150 km from Leh town, last evening when a group of officers and jawans clashed following an incident of alleged molestation involving an orderly and the reported capturing of the armoury by agitated soldiers. The clash took place allegedly after a jawan misbehaved with the wife of a Major who beat him up, sources said.
The Major did not permit other jawans to allow any medical treatment for the 'sahayak' fuelling anger among the colleagues who objected to it, the sources said
