Accountant, peon of CAPD held with Rs 1 crore | Involvement of Assistant Deputy Commissioner rank person surfaces | | Early Times Report jammu, May 11: Two employees of Consumer Affair and Public Distribution Department were held by Rajouri police for depositing Rs one crore in their account. Sources said that duo was arrested with hefty amount when bank manager of Jammu and Kashmir bank, branch Rajouri was apprised the matter by the clerk. The branch manager later rang to the police. The arrested have been identified as Suresh Kumar, an accountant and Som Raj a peon in CAPD posted in Rajouri. During scrutiny of the bank slip, the amount was written as Rs 2 crore. During their interrogation they told police that they withdrew the amount from the account of CAPD and was about to deposit in their accounts to get benefit of Simple Interest. Sources said that during sustained interrogation they revealed the name of Additional Deputy Commissioner rank person who during his tenure as Additional Director CAPD used to give Government money for depositing amount in their account and later enjoyed the interest. Sources further said that after his transfer and posting as ADC the trend continued on the direction of the ADC. The ADC is stated to be the relative of the accountant. Meanwhile, sources said that police has written to DC Rajouri for inquiry so that the fact could come fore. |
