| Seizure of illegal Chicken shop in Katra vindicates ET story | | | Early Times Report
jammu, May 11: Seizure of a chicken shop and arrest of its owner by Katra Police has finally vindicated Early Times' reports on illegal sale of chicken and mutton at various places in holy town of Katra, the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, in Reasi district.
On Thursday, after receiving specific information pertaining to sale and purchase of chicken in a shop at Aghar Jitto area at a periphery of Katra town, a police party led by SDPO, Katra, Rajinder Singh Katoch raided the area and arrested one Romesh Kumar son of Mani Ram and resident of Agar Jitto for running a chicken shop. A case had also been registered against the accused.
Pertinent to mention here that ET in its February 3rd edition had reported that illegal sale of chicken and mutton was on at various places in Katra area. It was also mentioned that the miscreants were managing the sale from the respective hideouts or from their houses. Even police raided the area but failed to catch the miscreants.
Following the news item, Katra police on February 6th, in written communique had denied the ET report with a comment the report was false and baseless.
Astonishingly, Katra police itself had sealed an illegal chicken shop from an area in Katra town.
Will Katra police be able to raid similar hideouts which are still active in various parts of the Town? Or again it will come up with a rebuttal! |
