| BJP for action against revenue authorities in multi crore defence land scam | | | early times report
JAMMU, May 12: Toughening its stand on defence land scam in Srinagar, the BJP which has first unearthed the much talked about multi crore scam last year demanded action against the broker and Revenue authorities of the state responsible for mutating the land records and issuance of No Objection Certificate (NOC).
The BJP will not rest till all involved in the scam are punished under law of the land so that no one dares to transfer the defence land in future by mutating the revenue records. BJP State president, Shamsher Singh Manhas during the side lights of a function here today said that twice NOCs were given by the officers in Revenue Department of the state and the CBI should take the cognizance of the same.
Besides the action should be taken against the brokers and land grabbers as well, he said, adding BJP will not rest till it exposes all those in State Government responsible in the scam. He expressed displeasure the way CBI was handling the case and demanded that immediate action should be taken against the revenue authorities in the state.
Manhas alleged that both Defence Ministry and Government was sleeping over the issue and it was only BJP which unearthed this multi crore scam over one year back. The Party, which has constituted a Scam Committee at national level headed by Kirit Somaiya ex MP has unearthed various scams in UP and Goa which resulted in defeat of the governments there.
Mr Somaiya, who also unearthed the multi crore defence scam near Srinagar airport in Kashmir Valley last year had sought action against all those involved in the illegal sale of multi the defence land in Valley.
The Committee in the state is headed by BJP state chief spokesman and National Executive member Dr Jitendra Singh as its convener while senior vice president of the Party Chander Parkash Ganga, its general secretary Satish Sharma, senior leader Chander Mohan Sharma and press secretary Balbir Ram as its members.
It may be recalled that Mr Somaiya while briefing the media persons about the defence land scam in Srinagar had said that the party will also unearth other land scams including the land grabbed by some top bureaucrats and politicians in the state in near future also.
A party spokesman said that BJP is not sitting quit on these issues but in near future it will also bring facts about the other scams involving the influential politicians and bureaucrats. It has also urged the CBI not to approach State Government and seek permission to quiz the Revenue authorities and others also involved in the scam. |
