| One killed as Sumo skids off | | | early times report
Kishtwar, May 12: One person identified as Mohammad Shafi Son of Mohammad Ismail resident of Khilani Doda at present Belicherna Jammu was killed when his vehicle bearing registration No: JK02M-7763 met with an accident near Phugumar some 18 Kilometers from Kishtwar on Jammu-Kishtwar National Highway.
The ill-fated vehicle was on its way from Kishtwar to Thatri when the deceased Mohammad Shafi who was driving the vehicle lost control over the vehicle as a result of which the vehicle fell into 400 feet deep gorge. The ill-fated vehicle after rolling down landed on the bank of the river Chenab.
As soon as the accident took place, some locals present on the spot at that time started rescue operation and informed District Administration.
A team of officials of the District Administration and police led by ACR Kishtwar R.K Shavan reached the spot and shifted the critically injured Mohammad Shafi District Hospital Kishtwar where he succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile the local people damaged a private vehicle of a person who refused to evacuate the injured Mohammad Shafi to District Hospital Kishtwar. The eyewitnesses said that due to refusal of the vehicle owner, critically injured Mohammad Shafi could not be shifted to hospital in time and later succumbed to his injuries. |
