Madr-e-Meharban students, staff celebrate Nurses Day | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 12 : Students and staff of Madr-e-Meha-rban Institute of Health Sciences, today celebrated Nur-ses Day. On the occasion tributes were paid to Florence Nightingale, the founder of Modern Nursing. Dr. J.D Sharma, former Health Secretary and Director General , was the chief guest on the occa-ssion. congratulated the nursing students of the Institution and called upon them to serve the sick and the ailing with the dedication exemplified by the life of Florence Nightingale. He further observed that nurse patient ratio and nurse-doctor ratio in the health care delivery in the state is still below the national norm and needs to be improved for better patient care. He also showed concern about the practice of female foeticide and exhorted the nursing students of the Institution to be the messangers of changed attitude towards the girl child. Earlier Dr. R K Raina, Director of the Institute compl-imented the nursing faculty for their devotion and dedication which has contributed for development of Madr-e-Meharban Institute of Health Sciences as a model paramedical institution. He spoke on the theme adopted for International Nursing Day 2012 which focuses on closing gap between evidence and action and stressed the need for monitoring hereto neglected area of influence of improved nursing practices on the outcome of disease and the research required in this area. |
