| Pakistan gets new defence spokesperson | | | Islamabad, Jan 28 Pakistan's defence spokesperson and press secretary to President Pervez Musharraf, Maj-Gen Shaukat Sultan, has been posted as the GOC Lahore.
Sultan will be replaced by GOC Bhawalpur Maj-Gen Waheed Arshad. Praising his successor as a "competent person", Sultan said it was an honour for him to be going on a command posting.
Sultan had replaced Maj-Gen Rashid Qureshi as the head of the Armoured Forced Public Relations (AFPL) in June 2003.
Qureshi had made his name while defending Pakistan's stand during the Kargil conflict with India and later by pleading Musharraf's case as a "reluctant coup maker" in October 1999, Dawn said today.
