Up- graded health services to people Govt's prime concern: Sham

JAMMU, May 13: Minister for Health and Family Welfare Sham Lal Sharma inaugurated JK Medicity-Super Speciality Hospital at By Pass here today. This modern medical centre has a 45-50 bed capacity and few special rooms.
Speaking on the occasion, Sham said that Government wants massive participation of private health institutions in providing better healthcare services and supplement government efforts in this regard. He called for close coordination between health department and field functionaries to extend adequate medicare to the people, especially living in rural and far-flung areas of the State.
He reiterated the resolve of the Government to accord utmost priority to the patient care in the Government hospitals and other associated hospital in the State.
The Minister said the State is fast progressing on the front of health services and the day is not far when the people even in far-off villages could avail specialized consultancy at their doorsteps.
He said doctor's paramount job is to save the lives of his patients. Sham said that during the last three years period of present coalition government an unprecedented development has been witnessed in the three regions of the state. He said that coalition Government headed by Chief Minister is committed to provide every basic amenities to the people at their doorstep.
Expressing concern over the illegal practice of pre-natal sex determination, resulting in decreasing trend of girl child in the country, the Minister said that Government alone could not solve the problems. He said what was needed was change of mindset of the general public including the medical community. He hoped that the dignitaries present spread the message of curbing the female foeticide thus help promoting balanced sex ratio.
Appreciating the efforts of the JK Medicity for providing such type of health care institution, the Minister said that the government is keen to promote this type of practice particularly in the field of healthcare.
He hoped that JK Medicity and other such organizations will expand their activities in future also with added zeal and dedication.
Principal GMC Dr. Rajinder Singh, Director Health Services Jammu Dr. Madhu Khullar, Director Horticulture J. N. Sharma, Director Floriculture K. K. Sharma and various other officers were also present on the occasion.
