| Santosh Trophy: J&K faces Maharashtra May 15 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
jammu, May 13: Jammu and Kashmir shall take on Maharashtra in its first outing in cluster four of the prestigious Santosh Trophy on May 15 at Cuttack, Orissa in Madhya Pradesh. With state team already reached the venue on May 11 after the side left from Srinagar on May eight, the boys were practicing in two sessions of morning and evening to adapt to the conditions there.
It was only in 2008 when Santosh Trophy held in J&K, that the state qualified for the second round of knock-out stages.
"Since 2008 as host, we have not been able to qualify for the next round. Anyway, we have fielded a good side this time containing young and experienced footballers thereby expecting improved performance," general secretary of the Association, SA Hamid told reporters on telephone.
The team is accompanied by Inspector Ranjit Singh as coach and Zahoor Ahmed Khan as manager. |
