Kishtwar, May 13: As success eluded them to either kill, or apprehend the three HM militants involved in September 7, 2011, Delhi high court blast, police and 11 RR today called off the 136-day-long operation launched by them in Marwah forests here.
The decision to call off the operation was taken in view of the reports that the militants had fled Marwah.
According to sources, the movement of HM commander Chota Hafiz, involved in Delhi high court blast, was noticed in Palmar area of Kishtwar district few days ago.
On the basis of these inputs, security forces decided to declare the search and cordon operation in Marwah as closed.
Sources said that there were no reports about the movement of two other Hizb militants Amir Kamal alias Akram and his associate Juniad Akram Malik, also wanted by NIA in the Delhi high court blasts.
That Junaid had been killed in a group clash in December last year, security forces were yet to reach any conclusion in this regard.
The sources said that the movement of Amir Kamal, who was trapped in a troops' cordon in Renie area of Marwah some time back, too had not been reported since then.
The sources said that due to heavy snowfall in the area, there was a possibility that some militants might have got buried under 8-10 ft of snow.
The sources said that there was still 2-3 ft snow in Renie forests which indicated that the militants trapped in the area might be dead as security forces had sealed all the entry and exit points.
Sources said that though the cordon around Renie and Dund areas of Marwah had been lifted, the security picket would continue to be there.
Meanwhile, Kishtwar police and 17 RR continued their search and cordon operation in Dool and Bhunzwar areas on the outskirts of Kishtwar town. The operation was launched after an input was received about the presence of Chota Hafiz and his associate in the area.
Sources said that Chota Hafiz's movement was also reportedly noticed in Kishtwar town last week before he crossed over to Bhunzwar, where the security forces were
currently searching for him.
NIA has already announced Rs 10 lakh cash reward each on Juniad, Shakir Hussain alias Chota Hafiz and Amir Kamal.
It is worthwhile to mention that Dr Waseem Akram Malik and Amir Abbas Dev, both residents of Kishtwar, were presently in jail in connection with the Delhi high court blast, while teenager Abid Hussain Bhawani was released on bail by Juvenile Justice Board, New Delhi, in March 2012
