Azad loyalists 'support, sympathise' with Minister, castigate opponents | 'Unwarranted intervention to build political pressure……?' | | Irregularities in Cooperatives Deptt
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 13: In the chain of scams and financial irregularities that have surfaced in various departments under NC led coalition government ,there is furore once again , this time the fingers having been raised at the functioning of the Cooperatives Department. A case alleging multi crore scam has been registered with State Accountability Commission , something which has created ripples in the political circles , no matter the facts have yet to be investigated by the anti-corruption body. In the swift turn of events, while the minister incharge lost no time in trying to put the record straight and wash his hands off any of the allegations, what makes the sequence of developments interesting is that a day after MOS Cooperatives Dr Manohar Lal presented himself in a press conference with some 'admission' that there have been financial irregularities in the department and that he is 'away' from that 'irregularity', a group of Congress leaders comprising ex ministers and legislators have come in support of him openly , appreciating the stand taken by the minister and making this assertion that this conduct of coming out boldly with facts in the press conference only goes on to suggest and establish that the Minister is sincere and honest. What is even more interesting with this group of Congress leaders is that while coming out in support and sympathizing with the Minister, they have castigated the political party and its activists who staged protest demonstration against the minister after the matter came to fore that SAC has lodged a case in this direction. In somewhat confusedly clubbed joint statement in which on one hand they have tried to come in support and sympathise with the concerned minister on the other hand they have castigated the party which staged demonstration over the matter. The Congress leaders have described as mere a false propaganda unleashed by 'certain political parties' contending this only reflects political bankruptcy and desperation for power of the latter. The statement of Congress leaders issued today also goes on to the extent of hitting out rival party by describing them as disgruntled, frustrated elements whose only motive is to exploit the situation to the hilt as a part of their survival in 'negative' politics. Choosing the word 'rogue' to describe the elements who staged protest demonstration over the matter, the group of Congress leaders have surprisingly 'warned 'them to desist from making the false propaganda against the Minister. The only sane suggestion that appears in the joint statement issued by the supporters of the MOS Cooperative is that they have asked 'such people' to respect the judicial institutions and allow the law to take its own course. One wonders whether the statement loaded with doze of admonishment against the opponents for their 'crime' of staging demonstration was really warranted or not. One also wonders whether the support and sympathy for the minister as their party leader or colleague at this stage was needed or not for SAC notice has not even been received by the Minister. And finally one wonders on whose advise and direction this particular group of Congress leaders were prompted to issue the statement today. Needless to say that all those whose name is mentioned clearly at the end of the joint statement belong to the faction having loyalty towards Union Health Minister and former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad . They include MLA Inderwal, G M Saroori, MLA Doda Abdul Majid, MLA Bhaderwah Niyaz Sharief, MLA Banihal Vikar Rasool, MLA Ramban Ashok Kumar, MLA Chenani, Krishan Lal Bhagat, MLC's Naresh Gupta, Yougal Kishore Sharma, Ali Mohammad Bhat, Mohd Amin Bhat, Subash Gupta, Jahangir Mir, Ex MLA's Ashok Sharma and Balwan Singh, Ex Ministers Thakur Puran Singh, Dr. Ramesh CHander, Suman Bhagat, Garu Ram, Hazi Nisar Ali, Hazi Abdul Rashid, Gulab Raza, Yogesh Sawhney and Ex. Chairman LAHDC , Kargil, Karblai. Can this be seen or construed as building a sort of political pressure or trying to bail the minister out of trouble by such political interventions and utterings …?
