| Excise Deptt, police seize 8850 kgs of polythene bags | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, May 13: A joint team of Excise Toll Post and police party of Lakhanpur seized 8850 kg of polythene carry bags in a truck bearing registration number JK02AE 4801 at Toll Post, Lakhanpur .
It was the biggest detection/seizure of polythene bags at the toll post.
The driver of the vehicle namely Sham Lal son of Dhana Ram of Maichak Kathua had declared that the ropes were loaded in the truck consigned to M/S M P Enterprise, Lakhdata Bazar, Jammu, however, on searches it was found that the polythene carry bags were being carried in the vehicle. The driver alongwith the polythene loaded truck was handed over to Commercial Taxes check post Lakhanpur for action and for further handing over to Pollution Control Board office Kathua.
The raid was conducted under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, Atul Kumar Goel and Deputy excise Commissioner of Toll Post along with Dy SP Kathua Rohit Baskotra, excise and Taxation officers Alyas Khan, G L Sharma, Sohan Lal Sharma, Pardeep Singh Chib, SHO Lakhanpur, Chanchal Singh and inspector Excise Farooq Chow-dhary.
Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Dy Excise Commissioner Toll Post Lakhanpur has appreciated the efforts of excise and police officers/officials and have warned the smugglers/tax evaders to desist from such kind of illegal activities. |
