Sort out yatra issues with Hindu organizations: Gupta to Govt | | | EArly Times Report Jammu, May 13: Expressing concern over the resentment amongst several religious bodies on the issue of time schedule for pilgrimage of holy shrine of Swami Amarnath Ji, the former Union Minister and MLA, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has urged upon the State Governor to sort out the problem by having dialogue with all concerned. This could lead to removal of undue tensions as the situation is not unavoidable, moreover, the talks are essence of a democracy. Prof Gupta said that the Shrine Board is to facilitate the pilgrimage and manage the smooth conduct of the yatra. The sentiments of the devotees in such sensitive matters should be taken into account and any hard attitude would not serve any purpose. He said the pilgrimage of Swami Amarnath Ji is of great importance since ancient times. Moreover, this serves the cause of tourism and contributes a lot to the economy of the State, especially that of the Valley. The longer the period of pilgrimage, the more people would have the opportunity to have the darshan. If there are any problems in the conduct of yatra, the Governor as being the Chairman of the Shrine Board should have dialogue with the concerned to over come these but any tough approach or confrontational attitude on either side could have no fruitful results. On the contrary the toughness would add more problems than any purposeful results, he added. Prof. Gupta further said that peace is essential for encouraging pilgrimage, which is a type of tourism. This is also a part of development. Hence, both the sensitiveness of the issue and interest of the people should not be over looked especially this pilgrimage is of national importance.
