Jaswant denies resignation rumours
1/29/2007 12:25:40 AM

NEW DELHI
BJP leader Jaswant Singh on Sunday described as "fictitious" a new report that he has resigned as leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha.

"The contents of the fictitious news are denied, rejected categorically and totally. All this could have been saved as per the normal practice had the newspaper taken the trouble to check with us the veracity of what was being published," said Raghavendra Rathore, Secretary to Jaswant Singh, in a statement issued on directions of the BJP leader who was out of the country.

He was denying a news item published in an English daily from the Capital which had claimed that the resignation was lying with former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Earlier in the day, BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad had also denied the news report saying it had no basis.
