JAMMU, May 14: WWF-India observed World Migratory Birds Day at Rajouri where a programme was organised at A-Z School, Dhanour. To aware the students of the school about the phenomenon of migration and the various species of migratory birds found in their vicinity, they were taken on a birding trip where they were brought face to face with various bird species and they themselves were able to draw the relationship between the various birds and the ecological balance they help in maintaining. Students learned about various scientific techniques to study birds. Students were also made aware about the "International Flyways Conservation Project" which aims at conservation of the migratory flyways of the birds. They were informed that various migratory birds do not recognize the boundaries created by humans and therefore they are the ambassadors of international peace and goodwill. Speaking on the occasion Rohit Rattan said that a key aspect of organizing such programmes is raising awareness among local communities and involving them in safeguarding endangered species. |
