ADC imposes Rs 1.85 lakh fine to offenders | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, May 14: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kathua today imposed fine of Rs 1.85 lakhs to offenders in eight different cases under the provisions of Food & Drug Control Act. According to a press release, the fine was imposed upon violators for selling sub-standard and misbranded items and extraneous matters. The violators included distributors, wholesalers and shopkeepers. Based on specific complaint, a team of Food & Drugs department led by Food Safety Officer (FSO) Hiranagar Hans Raj Andotra and FSO Nagri Parole Charanjeev Kumar under the supervision of Designated Officer Food Pankaj Soni collected the samples from different business establishments. The cases were today presented before the Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua for necessary legal action by Advocate Anuj Bakshi along with Food Safety Officers and Designated Officer. Taking cognizance, ADC Kathua penalized the violators and imposed fine of Rs 1.85 lakhs. Some of the violators deposited the amount on the spot while others agreed to deposit the said amount with in specific time. The cases have been disposed off with a warning to violators not to indulge in such practices in future. |
