CAPD team challans 22 shopkeepers | | | early times report JAMMU, May 14: The Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department imposed a fine of Rs. 20,350 from twenty two traders for violation of provisions of essential commodities act 1955/Price Display Order 1980/LPG Control Order 2000. An inspecting team of the department, headed by assistant director Enforcement Wing, conducted checking and challaned 22 shopkeepers, which include Cheese sellers, Chicken sellers, Vegetable sellers and dhabas in Old Jammu city, Gandhi Nagar, Canal Road, Jewal Chowk, Railway Station, Trikuta Nagar and Muthi-Barnai and adjoining areas and realized a fine of Rs.20,350 under the provisions of essential commodities act 1955/Price Display Order 1980/LPG Control Order 2000. All the Assistant Directors of Jammu Province and Enforcement Officers of Legal metrology Department have been directed to conduct market checking to check overcharging and other violations. The department has warned the traders and business community that non-display of approved price list/using of domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purpose and charging rates in excess to the notified rates constitute serious offence. |
