Pre-arrest bail denied to GVPR's MD, deputy | | | early times report JAMMU, May 14: Principal sessions judge Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal hasrejected the pre-arrest bail application of GSP Veera Reddy, managing director of GVPR Engineers Ltd, Hyderabad, and his deputy G Veera Sekhar Reddy in an alleged case of cheating with Jammu-based Cube Construction Engineers (CCE). The case was filed by CCE partner Ashwani Singh, alleging that GVPR had deceived his firm by not paying 8,47,16,438 which was due to them in terms of agreement with it. It was alleged that GVPR had dishonestly and fraudulently withheld the money. Jamwal rejected the pre-arrest bail applications of Veera Reddy and Sekhar Reddy after a high court directive to the sessions court to reconsider their bail application. He observed that the prosecution could not be prevented to go ahead with such kind of investigation. The petitioners were still at large and the prosecution was still to procure the evidence and the record which was only known to them. If such people were shown leniency, the other such criminals would be encouraged, the judge felt. "I am satisfied that in case the petitioners are admitted to anticipatory bail, there is no possibility of recovering the alleged amount as well as the relevant documents from them," he said. In such circumstances, the court was not inclined to grant pre-arrest bail to the petitioners and their custodial interrogation was required to be done, the judge ordered. |
