| ITE wins BGSBU cricket tourney | | | Early Times Report
RAJOURI, May 15: Information Technology Engineering (ITE) XI won the inter-department cricket tournament of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) played at District Police Lines ground, here today.
In the final of this week-long tournament, ITE defeated Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) XI by three wickets to lift the winners' trophy.
Earlier, ECE won the toss and decided to bat first they made 145 runs losing all their wickets in given 20 overs. Sahil was top scorer with 33 runs while Ibrar contributed 27-ball 30 runs to the total. Yasir Ahmed also played well adding 16-ball 24 runs. From ITE, Shakeel was most successful bowler with three wickets, followed by Amir and Dheeraj, who shared two wickets each.
In reply, ITE XI reached the total in 18.2 overs for the loss of seven wickets. Dheeraj played a sensible innings making highest 37 runs while Fazian contributed 30-ball 31 runs. Towards the end of the game, Farooq Dar entertained the crowd with some splendid hitting and contributed 24 runs off just seven deliveries.
From ECE XI, Sahil took three wickets while Danish and Taser shared two each. For his overall performance with both ball and bat in final, Dheeraj was adjudged man of the match. He was also declared man of the tournament.
In all, 10 teams participated in this event played on knockout basis under the banner of Directorate of Physical Education and Sports of BGSB University. |
