Use technology to help students in remote areas: Governor | | | early times report Srinagar, May 15: Governor N N Vohra today stressed on the importance of effective use of communication technology for the advancement of educational goals by reaching out to the students in the remote areas. "We have to take every necessary step to catch up with the rapidly advancing frontiers of knowledge", Vohra said in the inaugural address of a two-day national seminar on 'Television and New Communication Technologies - The Changing Paradigm of Education' in Kashmir University here. The Governor said the University can produce programmes based on expert lectures on various topics and broadcast these for the benefit of boys and girls studying in remote areas of the state. "This can be done through effective utilisation of communication technology so that the less privileged boys and girls in remote areas receive the same quality of learning as is available to the economically better placed segments of the student community living in the urban centres", he said. Vohra said Education and Multi-Media Research Centre of the university had been requested to produce a programme for the pilgrims on the Shri Amarnathji yatra - particularly to educate them about the Dos and Don'ts of the Yatra - and the high altitude risks involved in trekking across 14000-feet high passes. |
