Natrang celebrates its 30th Foundation Day | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 15: Natrang celebrated its 30th Foundation Day with big fanfare here today at its Studio with the presentation of the play 'Suno Tagore Di' written and directed by Balwant Thakur. The production of 'Suno Tagore Di' is supported by Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Ministry of Tourism and Culture J&K Government. Earlier Natrang Director Balwant Thakur spoke at length about the journey of Natrang and shared some very interesting successes and failures of Natrang. "Natrang was established on 5th of May 1983 with the staging of two plays 'Nanhen Kandhey Nanhen Pair' and Neeli Jheel' under the direction of Balwant Thakur and since then it brought the J&K theatre to the National and International limelight. It has traveled across the globe staging Indian culture and traditions at the stages in Russia, Germany, U.K., Singapore, Turkey, Hungary, Poland, and UAE. Theatre has become a platform for many who excelled at small and big screen which included Sunil Palwal, Anjali Abrol, Bhanu Goswami, Harish Khanna, Neeelu Dogra, Mridul Suri, Nariender Sachchar, Arvind Anand and Ashok Verma. The theatre has been conferred with many awards and credits which included Sangeet Natak Akademi), Bismillah Khan Yuva Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, UNESCO Accreditation, British Council (UK) Fellowship (Harish Khanna) Ford Foundation USA Fellowship, National Theatre Fellowships, National Theatre Scholarships National School of Drama Scholarships, National Scholarships to many artists In the year 2004 Natrang started organizing mega events and organized events like 'Jashen-e-Kashmir' 'J&K Utsav', 'Kashmir Festival' , 'Jammu Festival', ' Jashen-e-Bhadarwah' 'Celebrating Diversity' and'Rangla Jammu’. |
