Sudhmahadev Mela arrangements discussed | | | early times report UDHAMPUR, May 15: Arrangements for the smooth conduct of three day historical Sudhmahadev Mela were discussed at a district officers meeting held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, P K Pole, here today. The annual Mela would start from June 3, 2012 at Sudhmahadev of tehsil Chenani of district Udhampur Additional Deputy Commissioner, . Rajinder Singh, Joint Director Planning, . Rakesh Jamwal, Additional SP, . Benam Tosh, Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, . S.S Sambyal, district heads of various departments, engineers of PWD, PHE, PDD and representatives of Dharmarth Trust, prominent persons from Sudmahadev and Chenani were also present in the meeting. The meeting reviewed the arrangements for drinking water, power supply, medicare, sanitation, security, transport, accommodation, repair of road, , besides measures for checking rates of essentials and provision of parking of vehicles during the Mela days. The DDC directed the Executive Engineer PHE to install adequate number of public points at the Mela site well in advance, while Executive Engineer PDD was asked to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Mela days. The Chief Medical Officer was asked to depute a team of doctors with ambulance and required medicines to meet any eventuality at Chenani, Sudhmahadev and Mantalai round the clock during the Mela days. Executive Engineer, PWD was asked to raise separate temporary toilets at the Mela site and Mantalai for the convenience of pilgrims. Modalities for providing tented accommodation at Mela site were also discussed. Adequate deployment of security personnel at Mela site and enroute would be made by the District Police to ensure fool-proof security. The ARTO Udhampur would ensure plying of adequate number of buses from Udhampur to the venue of the Mela. A committee comprising Assistant Director, CAPD, Naib Tehsildar, Sudhmahadev and Food Inspector was constituted to keep a strict vigil on rates and quality of eatables. It was also decided that the Department of Tourism would ensure publicity of the Mela well in advance to attract maximum visitors to the Mela. |
