| 2 killed, 15 hurt in road accidents | | | early times report
KATHUA/KISHTWAR, May 15: Two persons, including a woman, were killed and 15 others injured in different road accidents in Kathua and Kud areas of the region today.
Police sources said a woman was killed and 12 others were injured after a vehicle in which they were travelling overturned on the national highway at Mirpur Chhani near Kathua early in the morning.
The incident occured at about 5.30 am when the ill-fated vehicle was on its way from Pacca Kotha, Dayala-chak, to a temple of goddess in Himachal Pradesh.
Police sources said after the vehicle overturned due to "overspeeding", a woman lost her life instantly, while 11 others, including seven women and two children, were injured.
The dead was identified as Chaya Devi (45), wife of Karan Singh (45). The injured were admitted to Kathua district hospital here. A case in this connection was registered at the concerned police station. Quoting the injured, sources said no senior doctor was available in the hospital for their treatment. In the other incident, that took place after a Tavera cab (PB01/9139) met with an accident at Telli Barie near Kud at about 7.15 pm, one person lost his life, while four others were injured. The dead was identified as Ghulam Qadir (50), son of Abdul Gani Butt of Prem Nagar, Doda, and the injured as Ajaiz Hussain, Mohammad Imran, Shahid Ahmed and Mohammad Hanief. The injured were admitted to the district hospital, Udhampur. Police had registered a case in this regard. |
