Corruption, bad governance leading J&K to anarchy: Mufti | Baig says PDP’s vision is agenda of hope | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, May 15: Calling for an all out war against corruption in the state, Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti Moham-mad Sayeed today said the present dispensation had degenerated into a coalition of the vested interest that had institutionalized loot at the highest level. "The inefficient functioning of the NC led government had assumed dangerous dimensions with every public service and resource being sold for a price," he told a convention of party workers at Langate in Kupwara district. People would have to rise against this open loot and stop the state from slipping into a completely ungovernable territory, he added. Mufti said inefficiency, atrocities, nepotism, favouritism and corruption flourished under all NC dispensations but the present coalition was taking the state into an unprecedented administrative anarchy which had the potential of deepening the alienation. He said there was no denying the fact that a sentiment of disaffection and alienation always existed in the state which needed a broadminded political approach to address but bad governance has historically provided the trigger to trouble. Nobody seems to be satisfied with government he said pointing to the daily demonstrations by almost all sections of society. "The fact that of late there have not been deaths on the streets as a result of police firing is being touted as an achievement, while all methods including brute force and framing of false cases are resorted to in order to enforce silence" he said. He said instead of declaring a war on the people it was better for the government to ensure justice, good governance and a corruption free administration. Explaining various aspects of the political vision of PDP senior leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig told the meeting that it aimed at modernization of the state along with dignified resolution of its political problems. Baig said it was a pleasant development that the youth of the state had started getting impressed with the PDP agenda and aligning with it. On this occasion District president and MLA Ab Haq Khan, senior leader Sofi Gh Mohiudin, Mohd Sultan Pandithpuri, Adv Mahraj Krishan Pandit, Irfan Sultan Panditpuri, Adv Nazir Ahmed Lone and others were also present. |
