| Girls inter-zone competitions of Jammu district | | Miran Sahib zone wins girls U-14 volleyball final | | early times report
JAMMU, May 16: Miran Sahib zone clinched under-14 volleyball title beating Bhalwal zone in straight identical sets of 25-20, 25-20 in the final played on the opening day of the girls' inter-zone (under-14, under-17) competitions of district Jammu, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Government Higher Secondary School, Domana, near here today. Earlier, in the semifinals, played today, Miran Sahib beat Akhnoor zone in straight sets of 25-15, 25-23 while Bhalwal zone got walkover Khour zone. Meanwhile, in under-17 volleyball event, Akhnoor zone and Gandhi Nagar zone have qualified for the final today. Earlier, in the semifinals, Gandhi Nagar defeated Jourian zone 2-0 (25-17, 25-11) and Chowki Choura outplayed Miran Sahib zone again 2-0 (25-10, 25-15. In the preliminary round, Jourian defeated Bhalwal zone 25-17, 25-11 while Chowki Choura trounced Miran Sahib 25-10, 25-15. About 600 players, representing different zones of the district, are taking part in this competition which is part of the annual calendar of activities of the DYSS. Earlier, district officer, Jammu, Tirath Ram declared open girls events in the morning.
