| J&K Sports persons being deputed to attend 33rd national Games at Gawhati | | | JAMMU, JANUARY 29 Minister for Youth Services & Sports Mr. Babu Singh has said informed that contingent of sports-persons of the state is being deputed to participate in the 33rd National Games starting from 9th Feb. 2007 at Gowahati. He said that the contingent compete in 12 disciplines namely athletics, handball, wrestling, wushu, rugby, boxing, gymnastics, fencing, rowing, swimming, kayaking and triathlon. The J&K team selected by the J&K Sports Council shall be after screened on 4th of Feb. under the banner of J&K Olympics Association. The screening process in almost all the disciplines has been completed by the J&K Sports Council after holding number of selection camps in Jammu as well as Kashmir. The minister, in order to boost the morale of J&K contingent is himself is leading the team of members of Sports Council along with Secretary Sports Council and Secretary Olympic Association to Gowahati. The members of Sports Council alongwith Secretary Sports Council and Secretary Olympic Association will also study the facilities and infrastructure provided for the national games by the Assam Government. Mr. Babu Singh said that very shortly a sports policy of the state will be formulated after consulting all the persons directly or indirectly associated with sports. The Sports Council will be geared up. More number of coaching camps will be organized in every nook and corner especially remote areas. More number of coaches will be recruited. The skills of coaches in our state will be updated. They will be sent for special training programmes within country and abroad. Services of national and international coaches will be hired for organizing special coaching camps for budding sports persons in our state. Regarding the redressal of grievances of the sports persons, the minister has assured to devise a mechanism. |
